Paul Dawes has spent over 25 years in Silicon Valley creating, managing, and selling innovative technology products and services. Paul was CEO of icontrol, a leading provider of SaaS IoT smart home solutions purchased by Comcast in 2017. Paul led the sales team that enabled Liberate's 1999 IPO.
Dr. Michael received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University, where he was a Jacobs Fellow. His dissertation work solved a long-standing problem in networking, and is the basis of Mode Router and Mode HALO.
Dr. Tang is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University. His networking research has been recognized with multiple awards, including a Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, awarded by the White House in 2012.
Douglas Case is a technology sales leadership veteran with decades of experience gathered among a number of successful Silicon Valley companies. Doug has held executive positions at both startups and established firms, and has worked across industries including Network Infrastructure, IoT, Storage, and Aerospace.
Frank Cusack has spent 25 years at the bleeding edge of Systems Operations and Information Security. He formed the original Google security team during his 12 year tenure there. Frank has an appreciation for practical and effective security, and has innovated several "best-of" security technologies in widespread use today.
Dr. Gervin flipped from surgery to Silicon Valley years ago. Since then, he helped create and market many cool startup companies, with wide-open focus: social media, communication, IoT, ray-traced graphics on a chip, and Enterprise networking. Adam favors a left/right brain balance in marketing strategy and execution.
Mr. Joseph brings nearly 20 years of network operations experience to Mode, including senior roles at a number of network-centric Silicon Valley companies. Mike spent 8 years managing network operations at Google Fiber, and served as Director Of Operations for Oracle Public Cloud and Yahoo prior to leading his team at Mode.
Kevin Kraemer is a technology product leader known for his ability to grow ideas into transformative products. He has delivered successful products for companies both small and large, and covering a range of applications: SaaS/Cloud, IoT, broadband networks, security, and enterprise software.
Ali Rizvi brings over 15 years of sales leadership experience to Mode. He has led the planning and execution of global sales strategies for companies like Global Crossing, Windstream, and En Pointe. Ali's expertise spans Data Center, Networking (LAN/WAN and SD-WAN), Security, SaaS, and XCaaS (Cisco, Avaya, Mitel, and Broadview).
Steve Turner has led engineering teams for over two decades in the networking industry. At Juniper he spearheaded the development of T-series routers, as well as their first mobile core and cell-site backhaul products. Prior to joining Mode, Steve ran the Cumulus Linux engineering team.
Dr. Forest Baskett,
Forest joined NEA in 1999 as a Venture Partner and became a General Partner in 2004. Forest focuses on information technology investments and serves on the Board of Directors for several private and public companies. Some of his investments that became public companies are Atheros Communications, Audience, Data Domain, Fusion-io and Tableau Software. Prior to NEA, Forest was Senior Vice President of R&D and Chief Technology Officer of Silicon Graphics Inc. He founded and directed the Western Research Laboratory of Digital Equipment Corporation before joining SGI. Prior to that, he was a Professor of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. Dr. Baskett received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and holds a BA in Mathematics from Rice University.
Dave Munichiello,
Dave is a general partner at GV (formerly Google Ventures) who leads the team's investments in data, platforms, and infrastructure. His other investments include Slack, Segment, GitLab, Jet.com (sold to WMT), CoreOS (sold to RedHat), Lattice.io (sold to Apple), SambaNova Systems, and several others. Dave's background prior to investing was in building and leading enterprise software sales and operations teams for highly-technical products, under pressure in rapidly-changing markets. As a senior executive at Kiva Systems, he helped grow the enterprise-enabling robotics and software platform to $120 million in annual revenue before it was purchased by Amazon. Dave's career prior to Kiva included management consulting for The Boston Consulting Group and leading teams as a Captain in the U.S. military's most elite units. His military leadership roles ranged from running a high-tech organization in Europe; to serving as an Aide de Camp to the Four Star General responsible for U.S. forces in Europe, Africa, and Afghanistan; to deploying with elite special operations teams worldwide, ensuring they were enabled by the world's most advanced technologies. Dave is a combat veteran and former paratrooper who holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS from Emory University in math and computer science.
